FAQ & Troubleshooting

A newly added domain shows no data until its first check completes - this usually takes a few seconds and the dashboard updates automatically without needing a page reload. If it’s been longer than a minute with no data, click Check now on the domain to trigger an immediate check.

Why is my SSL status showing as “unknown”?

Section titled “Why is my SSL status showing as “unknown”?”

A status of unknown means Expirity couldn’t establish a TLS connection to the domain - the server may be unreachable, TLS may not be configured on that domain, or the connection timed out. Verify the domain resolves and serves HTTPS correctly, then click Check now to retry. See SSL Certificate Monitoring.

Why am I not getting DNS, DNSSEC, SPF, or DMARC alerts?

Section titled “Why am I not getting DNS, DNSSEC, SPF, or DMARC alerts?”

These alert types are off by default on Pro and Agency and aren’t available on Starter. Turn them on individually from Notifications if you want them - see DNS Monitoring & Change Detection.

Daily on Starter, near real-time (hourly) on Pro and Agency. You can also trigger an immediate check at any time with Check now, regardless of plan.

What happens if I go over my domain limit?

Section titled “What happens if I go over my domain limit?”

Nothing is deleted. If a plan downgrade puts you over your new limit, existing domains and their full monitoring history stay intact - you simply can’t add new domains until you’re back under the limit, either by removing domains or adding a domain pack.

What’s the difference between pausing and deleting a domain?

Section titled “What’s the difference between pausing and deleting a domain?”

Pausing stops active monitoring while keeping the domain and its history in your account - useful for a domain you’re not actively using but don’t want to lose track of. Deleting removes the domain entirely. Use Pause from the domain’s detail panel rather than deleting if you might want monitoring back later.

No. Your domains, their monitoring data, and activity history are preserved on downgrade. What changes is feature access - for example, the REST API and DNS change alerts require Pro or Agency, and become unavailable (not deleted) if you move to Starter.

No, plaintext API keys are never stored and can’t be recovered. Revoke the old key and generate a new one from Integrations - see Generating an API Key.

Are my registrar credentials stored when I use bulk import?

Section titled “Are my registrar credentials stored when I use bulk import?”

No. Credentials for Namecheap, GoDaddy, and Route 53 are used only for the duration of the import request and are never saved. See Bulk Import.

A team member can’t see Billing or Integrations - why?

Section titled “A team member can’t see Billing or Integrations - why?”

Those pages are restricted to the account owner and Admin role. Editor and Viewer roles don’t have access by design - see Team Members & Roles for the full permission breakdown.

I got a registrar or nameserver change alert I wasn’t expecting - what should I do?

Section titled “I got a registrar or nameserver change alert I wasn’t expecting - what should I do?”

Verify directly with your registrar account rather than through links in the alert email, and confirm whether the change matches a transfer or migration you or your team actually initiated. See Registrar & Nameserver Change Alerts for next steps if the change is unrecognized.

If you’ve worked through the above and something still isn’t behaving as expected, reach out via expirity.io/contact.
