Short version: We use strictly necessary cookies to keep the service working, preference cookies to remember your settings, and lightweight analytics cookies to understand how the product is used. We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data to any third party. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser at any time.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners about how their service is being used.

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or malware. They are simply data files stored locally on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage and pixel tags, which we may use in addition to cookies for similar purposes. References to "cookies" in this policy cover all such technologies unless stated otherwise.

2. How we use cookies

Expirity uses cookies to:

  • Keep you signed in securely between page loads and browser sessions.
  • Remember your preferences such as billing period selection and dashboard layout.
  • Protect your account against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks.
  • Understand how users navigate and use the Service so we can improve it.
  • Measure the effectiveness of our website and identify pages that need improvement.

We do not use cookies for advertising, remarketing or behavioural targeting, and we do not share cookie data with advertising networks.

3. Cookie categories

Strictly necessary cookies
Always active

These cookies are essential for the Service to function. They enable core features such as authentication, session management, account security and the prevention of fraudulent activity. Without these cookies, the Service cannot operate.

Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent under applicable law and cannot be disabled through our cookie controls. You can still block them via your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from logging in and using the Service.

Preference cookies
Optional

These cookies remember choices you make when using the Service so we can provide a more personalised experience. For example, they remember whether you have selected monthly or annual billing, your dashboard column preferences, and your notification settings display state.

Disabling preference cookies will not break the Service, but some settings will reset between sessions and you may need to make your selections again each visit.

Analytics cookies
Optional

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website and application. This includes which pages are visited most, where users drop off in signup flows, and general usage patterns that guide product improvements.

We use privacy-respecting analytics. Data collected through analytics cookies is aggregated and anonymised — it is not used to identify individual users and is not shared with advertising networks or data brokers. If you opt out of analytics cookies, you will receive the same Service experience; we simply lose some insight into how features are being used.

4. Cookies we set

The following table lists the specific cookies set by Expirity. This list is maintained and updated as the Service evolves.

Name Category Purpose Duration
expirity_session Strictly necessary Maintains your authenticated session while you are logged in. Session
expirity_auth Strictly necessary Persistent authentication token for "stay signed in" functionality. 30 days
csrf_token Strictly necessary Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks on form submissions. Session
expirity_consent Strictly necessary Stores your cookie consent preferences so we do not re-prompt you on every visit. 1 year
exp_billing_pref Preference Remembers whether you last selected monthly or annual billing on the pricing page. 90 days
exp_dash_prefs Preference Stores your dashboard layout and column visibility preferences. 1 year
exp_theme Preference Stores your interface theme preference if we offer theme options in future. 1 year
_exp_analytics Analytics Pseudonymous identifier used to track aggregated usage patterns across sessions. 1 year
_exp_ref Analytics Records the referral source (e.g. search, direct, social) of your first visit to help us understand how people find us. 30 days

Cookie names and durations may change as we update the Service. This table is reviewed and updated alongside changes to this policy.

5. Third-party cookies

In addition to the cookies we set directly, some third-party services used to operate and improve Expirity may also set cookies on your device. These are governed by the respective third party's privacy and cookie policies, not ours.

PayPal

When you proceed to checkout or interact with PayPal's payment interface, PayPal may set cookies on your device to process the transaction and prevent fraud. These cookies are subject to PayPal's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to or control over PayPal's cookies.

Analytics provider

We use a privacy-respecting, GDPR-compliant analytics tool that does not use third-party advertising cookies, does not track users across websites, and does not share data with advertising networks. Data collected is hosted in the EU and subject to strict data processing agreements. We will update this section with the specific provider name as the Service launches.

Font delivery

We load fonts via Google Fonts. Google may set a short-lived cookie or log your IP address as part of font delivery. We are evaluating self-hosting fonts to eliminate this entirely. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

6. Your choices

When you first visit Expirity, we present a cookie consent notice that allows you to accept or decline optional cookies (preference and analytics categories). Strictly necessary cookies are always active as they are essential to the Service.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by:

  • Clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page on our website.
  • Adjusting your browser settings to block or delete cookies (see Section 7).
  • Emailing privacy@expirity.io to request that we clear any stored consent records associated with your account.

Withdrawing consent for optional cookies does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that took place before you withdrew consent.

7. Browser controls

All major browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically choose to block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, or delete cookies that have already been set. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in to Expirity.

Google Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies
Mozilla Firefox Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies
Apple Safari Preferences → Privacy → Cookies
Microsoft Edge Settings → Privacy → Cookies
Opera Settings → Advanced → Privacy → Cookies
Brave Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies

You can also opt out of analytics tracking across many websites using tools such as the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or Your Online Choices (EU), About Ads (US) or Ad Choices (Canada).

8. Do Not Track

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal that can be sent to websites to indicate that you prefer not to be tracked. There is currently no universally agreed standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals.

We respect your privacy preferences and do not engage in cross-site behavioural tracking regardless of DNT signal status. Our analytics are aggregated, pseudonymous and do not follow you across third-party websites. We will revisit our DNT response as industry standards develop.

9. Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, the technologies we employ, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or via a notice on the Service.

We recommend reviewing this page periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
